From Water to Super-Water

In the age of modern medicines, where we run to medical stores to take a pill to cure even minor health issues, it's better to call up your mother or grandmother and ask what they would do in the same condition. This does not mean that you would not need to take any medicine but then medicine consumption would only provide temporary relief from the symptoms, rather than providing you with a long-term solution. The idea to prepare super-water is to extract important oils of the plant which have several healing properties into the water. Water is considered as a powerful therapeutic tool, whereas herbs & spices have been used for centuries to treat different health concerns by simple method - SOAKING. To prepare your super-water, you just have to soak some herbs in a jug full of water, leave it overnight, and drink it in the morning. You can also mix powdered herbs into the water and drink. CLOVE AND BLACK PEPPER WATER Clove contains eugenol that is known to promote digestion and

COVID 19 : What Is Stopping You From Burning Those Calories?

Understanding why it is so hard to sweat more.

Weight loss is aided by an active lifestyle and by balancing what you eat, how much you eat and at what time you eat. But how easy is it for people to be active in today's world? With our busy work schedule, can we have balanced meals at the right time interval?

In a typical office setting, your timings are usually fixed - you eat on the way to work or when you get to the office. Even for the rest of the day, everyone is on a similar schedule so it’s easier to eat meals on time. But when you’re working remotely, you may choose to skip meals or keep on snacking throughout the day. Also, wearing pajamas all the time, you might not even realize how your size is increasing!

Nowadays, most of us are working from home, our sitting hours have increased and due to lockdown which involves long periods of sitting often looking at a screen. Not only that but our opportunities for relaxation post-work often involve even more screentime, watching television or playing games on phone.

Our everyday environment no longer required us to spend much energy. Hardly anyone is stepping out of the house, rather usually sitting in the airconditioned room throughout the day and not burning many calories. Even water intake for few has reduced because many times people feel lazy to go to washroom again and again.

Those who are going out, they usually travel by car and do not walk far. We all know walking is a good idea, but it is hard to find time to fit it into your busy workday. Even if we want to walk or cycle there may not be any walking tracks or bicycle paths that are safe and away from the traffic. Plus, it is way to difficult to do any sort of physical activity outside with a face mask (which is a must!).

PRO-TIP: It is impossible to control everything in our lives. However, we do have huge control over our own 'lifestyle' that affects our health now and in the future. It's all of the little things that add up into a powerful lifestyle shift.

Focus on SOIT

  • Stay away from processed and packed foods.
  • On increasing bulk in meals with fewer calories.
  • Improve your water intake.
  • To Cut down on hidden sugar and fat.

Start with baby steps today and have patience.

HOW FAMILY PLAYS IMPORTANT ROLE IN MANAGING HEALTH AND DISEASES

If you have a loved one who is addicted to alcohol or know someone who is trying to quit smoking, what do you do? You probably would advise them to stay away from liquor, throw away cigarettes to help them get over this toxic addiction, right?  Similarly, when we have a family member who is diabetic or obese or suffering from any other co-morbid condition, should we not support them in adopting a healthy lifestyle? Diabetes is a chronic illness requiring lifelong maintenance. A change in eating habits can be a challenge, so be a source of encouragement by meeting with their doctor and dietitian and learning the best diet strategies, and then helping them make better meal choices and doing it alongside them. It especially becomes difficult for women to manage home, children, work, and then plan and balance their meals. If you eat unhealthy foods around people who need or want to adopt a healthier eating pattern, this makes it harder for them to stick to the plan. Limit your intake of

If 'Calories-In' and 'Calories-Out' is the answer, why is it so hard for people to lose weight?

So anyone can tell you that if you want to lose weight you need to eat less food and do more exercise.  This advice is quite right, based on the principle that the body responds to its energy balance. But, if the principle of energy balance is so simple, then why is it so hard for people to lose weight? Our genetic inheritance as well as our environment also influences this balance. All people are different. The genes that we inherit from our parents can affect how easily we gain or lose weight. Some people will move around more than others and use up more energy. Some people absorb their food a little more efficiently than others. Some people have a stronger craving for fatty, sweet foods than others. So even in places where conditions make it hard for someone to gain weight, you will see people of different size and shape due to these inherited differences. When we talk about our societies, food is now plentiful, affordable, and always all around us. Have a look at your local superma

How Your Immunity Is Influenced By Your Upbringing ?

We're living through the times that many of us have never seen before. COVID 19 has taught us the importance of having a strong immunity. But what is immunity and how can we have a strong immune system? Well, immunity is your body's capability to fight against infectious diseases. As the child is born, he/she comes in contact with the air, with objects available and also people around them. With each and every touch and contact, they acquire a set of microbes in them which are different types of bacterias, fungi, and viruses that helps in forming the immune system. As the child grows, many factors influence this growth in the gut like the food they take, whether or not you give them anti-biotics, vaccinations, whom they come in contact with, if they are going out to play or going to school, whether you have any pets at home and also the acquired genes from parents. By adulthood, our bodies contain a diverse range of these microscopic organisms which help us to digest food and
